ya know? It does!..I've done several 'drawings' with crayon on a hot-plate, and gotten similar results, (not as 'rich' in color as yours), I need to find one of those old, flat hot-plates and do more. It was great fun!

would that be an actually heated plate? I'm not too familiar with the concept, but sounds interesting..

yes, not like a dinner plate, but a flat, heated surface that could hold two smaller dinner plates. I'll find one and take a picture when I do..^^
